FEXFL Rookie Draft – Round 1

St. Louis Rams training camp

The first round of the Fantasy Experts Football League initial dynasty rookie draft is in the books.

The rookie draft began May 3, 2010 after the veteran portion of the draft was held from February to March earlier this year.  This expert’s league has many esteemed representatives from some great fantasy football sites on the Internet.

Below, you will find the first round results to help you begin to estimate what the ADP (Average Draft Position) of each player will be in your rookie draft.

This dynasty league has 16 teams, PPR, heavy IDP scoring, return yardage, and flex starters on offense and defense.

The following teams did not have a first round selection due to prior trades earlier in the draft: FantasyFootball.com, Fantasy Football Search, and Fantasy Pros 911.

1.01 Hatty Waiver Wire Guru – Mathews, Ryan SDC RB

1.02 The Fantasy Exchange – Bryant, Dez DAL WR

1.03 Fantasy Football Whiz – Best, Jahvid DET RB

1.04 RookieBlitz.com – Spiller, C.J. BUF RB

1.05 Fantasy Sharks Radio – Tate, Ben HOU RB

1.06 Bruno Boys – Bradford, Sam STL QB

1.07 RookieBlitz.com – Thomas, Demaryius DEN WR

1.08 Fantasy Football Brothers – McClain, Rolando OAK LB

1.09 RapidDraft.com – Hardesty, Montario CLE RB

1.10 Razzball – Tate, Golden SEA WR

1.11 RotoWire – Clausen, Jimmy CAR QB

1.12 1420 Sports – Berry, Eric KCC S

1.13 Fantasy Sports Group – McCluster, Dexter KCC WR

1.14 Fantasy Sharks Radio – Benn, Arrelious TBB WR

1.15 The IDP Guru – Gerhart, Toby MIN RB

1.16 RotoWire – McKnight, Joe NYJ RB

There was no surprise with the first four picks of the rookie draft.  The consensus top-four at this point is Mathews, Bryant, Best and Spiller in no particular order.  I had hoped Jahvid Best would fall to fourth, but I was happy to take Spiller (4th in my top 100).

Quarterbacks are at a premium in this 16-team league, so it was not a surprise to see Bradford go 6th or Clausen 11th.  Ben Tate has been a hot name lately with his great situation in Houston.

I was also happy to draft Demaryius Thomas at No. 7.  I just recently have moved him to 5th overall in my top-100 rookie rankings.

One of the only big surprises was that none of the top tight ends found their way into the first 16 selections.  Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski are great values at this point.

Arrelious Benn is the polarizing wide receiver from this group.  I recently moved him up four spots in my top 100 to 22nd overall, but there are some rookie experts that have him in their top-five overall regardless of position.

Stay tuned as we will breakdown all 96 selections of the 2010 FEXFL Rookie Draft.
