Ponder-ing my thoughts about the 2011 Senior Bowl

Earlier today my counterpart Andy Miley shared his Senior Bowl thoughts.

I’ve always loved the Senior Bowl.  The Senior Bowl has been the  unofficial kick-off to the next fantasy season for as far back as I have done dynasty fantasy football.  As the NFL Network provides more access, it is easier for us arm-chair dynasty scouts to get a first good look at the next class of potential rookie draft selections. 2011 Senior Bowl thoughts

The granddaddy of the 2011 all-star college games is now in the books. Some college stars shined brightly, while other stars fell to the earth, a few stars had limited visibility, and some faint stars became brighter.

This writer especially enjoys the differences of opinion within the world of draft gurus.  Each set of eyes sees something a little bit different from everyone else.  There were plenty of players that made an impression at Mobile.

RB Delone Carter impresses at East-West Shrine Game

Earlier today my counterpart Andy Miley shared his East-West Shrine Game thoughts and I thought it would be a good idea to do the same.

The East-West Shrine game is a great chance for some of the lesser-known senior draft-eligible prospects to catch a scout’s eye before the event marking the beginning of the NFL Draft process: the Senior Bowl.

My initial thoughts for top 2011 rookie WRs and TEs

My first blog entry was about 2011 rookie QBs and RBs dynasty owners need to focus on watching.  My second installment deals with the pass catchers.  The dominance of RBs in fantasy football has been sliding each year as points per reception leagues are now the norm.  Getting young, cheap help can make the difference between a championship team and a borderline playoff team.  Continue reading →

My initial rookie QB and RB thoughts

Some dynasty players may think this is the quietest time of the year.  Do not let that be you!  Use this time to get a leg up on your competition by starting your own rookie scouting.  First I am no “expert” but I am getting my first impressions on players.  Small differences may make the difference between drafting LeSean McCoy and Chris “Beanie” Wells.

My top 5 QBs as of 1/15/11

The Rookie Blitz – Week 8 in Review

The Rookie Blitz goes beyond the box score to examine the fantasy football impact of each NFL Draft class.

Quarterback

Although it wasn’t the biggest fantasy output of his young NFL career, Sam Bradford turned in arguably his best performance (+5.1) to date against the Panthers with a 112.4 QB Rating and a 78.1% completion percentage. Bradford’s low yardage totals the past 3 weeks (all below 200 yards passing) limit his fantasy value, but he has thrown 5 touchdowns and no interceptions over that time without Mark Clayton.
